A pricey restaurant doesn’t equal quality food – going to a grocery store and picking up some organic food will save you money and your health.
Bring your food with you in a cooler – even if you are flying. Did you know you can check a cooler?
Bring tea with you and ask for hot water. Some places won’t even charge for the hot water where as a cup of tea can cost up to $5 dollars.
Invest in reusable water bottles.
Always carry snacks like homemade trail mix, almonds, or dried fruit.
If you find yourself having to rely on restaurants:
Start your meal with a salad packed with veggies to help control hunger and feel satisfied sooner. Also, ask for a light, vinegar-based, dressing on the side (TIP: instead of pouring the dressing on your salad, dip your fork in the dressing between bites so you get the taste of your dressing while cutting down on calories).
Keep an eye out on the menu for anything labeled Steamed, Grilled, or Broiled, and avoid Fried or Sauteed dishes.
Avoid the free munchies like bread baskets, rolls, tortilla chips or Chinese noodles as they can be bottomless pits of calories.
Load up on veggie side dishes.
